Name the Cat Competition

A competition to ‘name the cat’ mascot for the 2011 Games was launched on 6th August 2001.  The competition, open to Isle of Man residents of all ages, inspired many entries with some excellent suggestions.  The competition was judged by Chairman and Games Director, Geoff Karran and Alistair Audsley, CYG2011 Marketing Co-ordinator.  The winner ‘Tosha’ was chosen for its catchy name and Manx Gaelic meaning ‘to be first’.  Vicki Skellorn, who lives in Ramsey with her 2 children was delighted to receive first prize, a ‘goodie’ bag provided by the Department of Tourism and Leisure as well as the first CYG2011 mascot cat off the production line.  Vicki is photographed receiving her prize from Alistair Audsley.

“Tosha is shown with Jessica Humphrey the daughter of one of the partners of local Advocates Long and Humphrey who are sponsoring the Tee Shirts to be worn by Tosha’s carers as he tours the Island.”
